Play-Based Classes for Parent & Child

Circle of Parenting: For expectant parents and their babies up to 12 months old

Pregnancy and new babies bring profound transitions to families.

You are not alone. Questions may arise about a baby’s crying, need for holding, feeding and sleeping. Explore your role as a parent of an infant, how it feels, and what you need, while in the company of other parents and professionals.

Parents/caregivers develop observation skills, are supported to build partnership with their babies, understand infant development, receive peer and facilitator support, and ends with a short singing time all together.

Baby Floor Time: For parents/caregivers and their 12-24 month olds

Young toddlers require the freedom to move and to attend to exploration as they work and play. Many of these young tots have grown into world explorers! In this class you’ll watch your baby expand their capacity to be with other tots and adults in an environment that is specifically designed for the very young.

This class includes an adult quiet observation time while children enjoy child-centered play, an adult conversation time where parents and caregivers can receive peer and facilitator support, and ends with a short singing time all together.

Toddler Play and Parent Education: For parent/caregivers and their 22-36 month olds

In this class, your growing tot will learn that they can wait, listen to others, be listened to, problem solve, and be part of a group.

Classes include child-centered play, sensory activities, clean up, singing, stories, and a simple snack.

While children are supported in play, parents/caregivers practice observation, build the capacity for inquiry and curiosity and explore “parent tools” for supporting feelings, attachment, autonomy, mastery and problem solving, and sharing the ups and downs of living with a toddler with other parents and a facilitators.

“[Secure Beginnings] has really helped me to be a better parent. I look forward to it every week and miss it during the breaks”

"This was such a safe place for us to learn and grow. We look forward to coming to our class every week. It was so helpful to see how the facilitators interacted, supported, encouraged and addressed our concerns and needs. For me (mom) this was the greatest place!!! Especially to just feel safe to let my child be himself and let me go and ask questions and feel supported. This has been so incredibly valuable to me and my family."

“I love coming to [Secure Beginnings] with my children. It has always been a wonderful place to spend time. We look forward to playgroup each week. A very special time to be with my kids in a quiet nurturing environment.”

“[Secure Beginnings] offers a safe space in a busy world for us to bond with our children. The facilitated sessions help us to see our young children for who they are and to love and embrace them in their developmental stages. Thank you for such a great gift!”
